Glossary

Definitions of Tuurbo-specific terms plus the SEO, GEO/AEO and eCommerce concepts used across the docs.

This glossary is split into two parts:

  • Tuurbo terminology covers terms specific to the platform, its components and how it works.
  • General concepts covers SEO, AI-search and eCommerce terms that are not Tuurbo-specific but appear often in the docs.

Tuurbo terminology

Workspace, projects and people

  • Workspace — the container for your websites, members, credits and billing. Agencies typically use one workspace per client.
  • Project (website) — one domain and everything attached to it: connectors, automations, knowledge, audits and history.
  • Member — a person invited into a workspace. Paid plans include unlimited users.
  • Role — what a member can do: Owner, Admin, Member or Viewer.

Components

  • Dashboard — the per-website home screen aggregating Search Console, GA4, AI visibility and applied changes.
  • AI Consultant — the chat that reads your data, produces action plans and executes approved steps.
  • Action plan — an ordered list of steps produced by the Consultant, each with expected impact and credit cost.
  • Skill — a specialised capability of the Consultant (keyword research, content brief, technical diagnosis, reporting...).
  • Thread — a single conversation with the Consultant; each thread keeps its own context.
  • Automation — an always-on rule that watches one field and fixes it when a condition is met.
  • Trigger condition — when an automation acts: if missing, if empty, if not empty, if shorter/longer than N characters.
  • Scope — which pages, templates, product types or URL patterns an automation applies to.
  • Generation — a single piece of AI-produced content (a meta description, a product description, an image).
  • Generation queue — the background list of running and pending bulk jobs.
  • Bulk job — one operation applied to many items at once, typically a catalogue rewrite.
  • Original value — the pre-AI value Tuurbo stores for every field it rewrites, used for comparison and rollback.
  • Rollback — restoring an original value.
  • Changes history — the log of every optimization applied, with before/after values.
  • Knowledge base — the brand context (positioning, tone of voice, policies, product vocabulary) every AI output is based on.
  • Connector — the authorized link between Tuurbo and an external system (store, CMS, Google, CRM, workflow tool).
  • Write-back — publishing generated content into your platform through a connector.
  • Script — the Tuurbo snippet installed in <head>; it applies on-page optimizations and measures AI referrals.
  • Verification — the automatic check confirming the script is live on your domain.
  • Audit — a crawl that scores performance, SEO, GEO/AEO, product content and accessibility, and lists concrete issues.
  • Baseline audit — the first audit of a project, used as the comparison point in later reports.
  • Content score — the per-product score highlighting missing description, images, alt text or attributes.
  • Speed layer — the Performance add-on: managed DNS, CDN, edge cache, prerendering and image optimization.
  • Prerender — serving pre-rendered HTML so JavaScript-heavy pages stay readable to crawlers and answer engines.
  • Purge — clearing cached copies of a page so a new version is served.

Credits, plans and add-ons

  • Credit — the unit consumed by AI operations. 1 chat message, 1 meta field, 1 page audit or 1 attribute fill = 1 credit; a product description or an AI image = 5.
  • Allocation — the credits granted for a billing period; credits reset at renewal and do not roll over.
  • Top-up — extra credits bought inside a period.
  • Free plan — 20 credits per month, add-ons not available.
  • Contact sales — the quote path above 4,000 credits or with an add-on selected.
  • Enterprise — custom contracts above 10,000 credits.
  • Performance add-on — the speed layer, from €129/month + VAT, priced on pages and monthly views.
  • Tuurbo Managed — the turnkey option with a dedicated human consultant who runs the platform, reviews output, publishes and reports.

General concepts

Search (SEO)

  • SEO — Search Engine Optimization: making pages easier for search engines to find, understand and rank.
  • Crawling — a bot fetching your pages.
  • Indexing — a search engine storing a page so it can appear in results.
  • Indexability — whether a page is allowed to be indexed (robots rules, noindex, canonical, status codes).
  • Canonical tag — the declaration of which URL is the primary version of duplicate content.
  • Title tag — the clickable headline shown in search results.
  • Meta description — the summary below the title; it does not affect ranking directly but strongly affects clicks.
  • Heading structure — the H1–H6 hierarchy of a page.
  • Alt text — the textual description of an image, used by screen readers and image search.
  • Structured data — machine-readable markup (Schema.org / JSON-LD) describing products, articles, FAQs and organizations.
  • Internal linking — links between your own pages; they distribute authority and define topic relationships.
  • Anchor text — the visible text of a link.
  • Impressions — how many times your page appeared in results.
  • Clicks — how many times users clicked through.
  • CTR — click-through rate: clicks divided by impressions.
  • Average position — your mean ranking for a query over the period.
  • Core Web Vitals — Google's user-experience metrics: LCP (loading), CLS (layout stability), INP (interaction responsiveness).
  • TTFB — time to first byte: how quickly the server starts responding.

AI search (GEO/AEO)

  • Answer engine — an AI assistant that answers directly instead of returning a list of links (ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini, Claude).
  • AEO — Answer Engine Optimization: making your content easy for assistants to quote correctly.
  • GEO — Generative Engine Optimization; used interchangeably with AEO in these docs.
  • AI Overviews — Google's AI-generated answers shown above traditional results.
  • AI referral — a session arriving from an answer engine.
  • Citation — an answer engine naming or linking your site as a source.
  • Entity — a distinct thing (brand, product, place) that engines try to recognise consistently across pages.
  • Grounding — an AI system basing its answer on retrieved sources rather than model memory.
  • Hallucination — a confident but factually wrong AI output; the reason human review before publication matters.

eCommerce and platforms

  • Catalogue — the full set of products, variants and collections in your store.
  • Product attribute — a structured property such as material, colour, size or weight.
  • Variant — a specific version of a product (size/colour combination).
  • Collection / category — a grouping of products.
  • Sync — importing the current state of your catalogue into Tuurbo.
  • CMS — the system that manages your site content.
  • API key / token — the credential used by key-based connectors (Magento, PrestaShop, VTEX, OpenCart).
  • OAuth — the permission flow used by Google, Shopify and Wix, where you authorize access without sharing a password.
  • Webhook — a signed HTTP call sent when an event happens, used to trigger workflows.
  • CDN — a content delivery network serving your files from locations close to the visitor.
  • DNS — the records that tell the internet where your domain is hosted.

Analytics and accessibility

  • Search Console — Google's tool reporting how your site performs in search.
  • GA4 — Google Analytics 4: sessions, engagement and conversions.
  • Property / stream — the specific site configuration inside Search Console or GA4; selecting the wrong one is the usual cause of missing data.
  • Session — one visit, grouping the actions a user takes in a time window.
  • WCAG — the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines, the reference standard for accessibility conformance.
  • Contrast ratio — the measured difference between text and background colour.
  • Landmark — a structural region (header, nav, main, footer) that assistive technology uses to navigate.
